The necessity of managing a family portfolio combined with the devastation caused in the north west by the Foot and Mouth epidemic in 2000 brought about our increased interest in commercial affairs. This practice is interested in expanding its commercial links, but does not envisage significant involvement in urban conurbations. Market towns and villages is where our expertise has flowered, and we have long term interests in Clitheroe, Skipton, Settle, Kirkby Lonsdale and Kendal by way of example.

Our bread and butter is portfolio management, dealing with investment property in a positive and trustworthy manner. We endeavour to take the strain out of commercial investment, and therefore on a daily basis we undertake repairs, lettings, rent reviews, lease renewals as well as looking to extract additional value by improvement, extension or redevelopment.

Ad hoc instructions include records of condition, planning consents, planning enforcement proceedings and compulsory purchase. We have dealt with the following interesting commercial property projects in the past:
